So we've been working on Padcasts the past 2 weeks in class. I noticed that when it came down to recording our podcasts, Liz and I both said the same thing, " I hate hearing myself recorded." Slightly difficult when making a podcast. Even more difficult, I hate to see myself recorded, which has the potential to make vodcasting my very own personal hell. So far, we're not being forced to do that, so I think I'm safe. One thing that I definitely noticed when recording the podcasts were how my understanding of Physics and wavelengths were helpful. When we were cutting and splicing different tracks together, I almost didn't have to listen to them to know where to cut. It was nice to see that the semester I spent in digital electronics class wasn't a total waste. :)
I think it would be fun to have my kids make vodcasts for conic sections. I wanted to do videos last year, but I ran out of time. I would love to give my students the opportunity to incorporate some technology in the class. It would also be helpful to have them as a resource for future years.
Wow! There's actually a whole class for that? I had one student who begged us not to share her video-story ("I Am" Poem on Photostory 3). I thought maybe she was embarrassed about pictures of herself, or perhaps she shared something a little too personal that she didn't want her classmates to hear. It turns out all the tears were because she didn't like the way her voice sounded when recorded. It's hard enough for us to understand that our own voices don't sound the same way to us as they do to everyone else, much less a self-conscious 8 year-old girl. :/
